Hythe Festival alternates with the Venetian Fete which thus provides an annual ongoing focus for the town giving a week of varied activities and entertainment for both the people of Hythe and visitors to the town and the surrounding area.
Events are planned to have a wide appeal to everyone, young and old, and the majority of events are free which is made possible by the generosity of major sponsors such as Hythe Town Council, SAGA, Smiths Medical International, Eurotunnel and many businesses and shops in and around Hythe.
At the Hythe festival there are events such as a Parade up the High Street made up of local societies and organisations, accompanied by military bands. Other events such as a car boot sale on the Green, Wildlife Train Safari, Teddy Bear Picnic with Mikki the Clown and a Canal Concert.
Other local events held at the festival in 2008 was a Napoleonic Re-enactment, followed by the Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas.
As you can see a very varied programme and much more detail can be found either on their website www.hythe-festival.co.uk or from programmes that will be available at all major shops, libraries and schools in the area nearer the time of the Festival in the summer of 2010.
